about

Our second album is also based in the "sound language of the universe", as Sanskrit is often called. Eight so-called Gayatri Mantras form the textual basis for this concept album. The term Gayatri refers on the one hand to the connection to the original Gayatri Mantra (Om Bhur Bhuvah Svah) and on the other hand to the verse form in which these mantras are written. Moreover, in the original three-line structure of the Gayatris, these three Sanskrit terms are almost always found:

Vidmahe - we know, we realize, we meditate on Dhimahi - we think of, we meditate on Prachodayat - inspire us, enlighten our understanding.

Dedicated are these mantras each to a particular deity and thus to a particular aspect of the divine. For example, Durga symbolizes the ideal of maternal love, Ganesha is considered the overcomer of all obstacles, Saraswati is the goddess of wisdom and arts, and Vishnu stands for peace and balance.

Guided by the meaning, but even more by the sound of the Sanskrit words, we set out to combine these ancient sacred texts with new melodies and open our hearts to their message: When we sing to the deities, we sing to a particular aspect of the divine within ourselves. Loveis gave musical form to four divine aspects on the masculine level and Jay to four divine aspects on the feminine side. In this way, sounds were created that invite listening, singing, dancing, quiet and moving meditation.

Jay: "Three divine beings took away all our troubles: they were dance, drum and singing". This old African adage reflects my experience in a very personal way ..
